Many things in this world can cause a person to cry – pain, grief, despair, etc, and these are all horrible, negative things. But there are not many things in the world that can move a person to tears in nice, positive manner.
Mother Nature, however, has this skill down to perfection in a breathtaking, awe inspiring manner. Sunrises over desert dunes or mountain landscapes. Glacier fed rivers flowing through virgin evergreen forests. Animals and birds decorated with the most striking colours and patterns. Noises and smells assault our senses which, along with the visual show before us, cause our emotions to go into overload making the eyes well up.

Not only can Mother Nature’s display of beauty have it’s effect on our emotions but also the demonstration of her incomprehensible strength and power. Witness a river in full flood smashing rocks and trees like they were made of polystyrene. A huge storm with rain, lightning and the soul shattering thunder. Try driving, or even walking, through a sand storm.
Most travellers are preoccupied by the human influence on their journey – Is there a war on? Will I get mugged? Is there a mechanic in such a town? Pity the fool who doesn’t also ask – What season is it where I’m going? What are the main risks to my health from the animal kingdom (big to microscopic)? How have the locals living in that area adapted to living with Mother Nature?
When you travel be aware of the good and bad sides of a very two-faced Mother Nature so hopefully your tears, if you head out into the wilderness, wont be ones of pain, grief or despair.
